I told you I wasn't very good about writing. Or blogging in this case. I just never seem to want to sit down and put this all together. It isn't hard, it just takes some organizing which I am lacking right now. Most of our pictures are on our desktop and I got a new laptop for an anniversary/early birthday present so once I get everything switched over I'll post some pics- maybe. Since I haven't posted anything since January I'll give you a quick monthly run down as best as I can remember.
February:
Slow short month. Nothing big happened. I started looking at schools/MDO programs for Maggie and Ryan was busy at work.
March:
This is when all the craziness started. Grandpa was recovering from his surgery that removed his sarcoma. Ryan found out that he was offered some field work, in Chile! Donna had to have emergency surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. We also put our house up on the market. The first two weeks of the month were normal, then BAM everything happened. Grandpa had a scan done and they found 8 more tumors, Donna had and MRI done and found out that she had a large ovarian cyst that had to come out immediately, and then after booking flights to go home, Ryan found out that he would be spending April, May and part of June in Chile, South America.
April:
April was spent getting Ryan ready to travel abroad, Maggie and I packed to spend a week with family who was ill, and keeping the house cleaned up for showings. This month flew by. Not having Ryan home was weird and it took Maggie and I awhile to adapt. At the end of the month we put in a contract on a house and crossed our fingers that we would have a contract on ours by May 20.
May:
Ryan came home for a week in mid May. Luckily this coincided with the offer that was put on our house. The rest of the month was spent packing up the house, getting everything lined up for the new house, and preparing Maggie for school. My baby starts school in June!
June:
Ryan headed back to Chile for another 5 weeks, or so we thought. He was back maybe a week and we got the good news that he would be coming home early! I was so relieved because that meant I wasn't going to be signing all the closing documents for the new and old house.
The second week of the month Miss Maggie started school at World of Wonder! It is a preschool for 2 yrs old thru Kindergarten. Maggie is in the Polliwogs which is 3 and up. She loves it! She goes Tu/Thu from 9-12:30. It is nice for my work schedule, plus it is nice that she doesn't take a nap there. That was a really big thing for me. If she is going to school, I want her playing, learning, socializing. I don't want her to nap on the floor for 1 hr 30 min while the teacher reads a book. I know for some moms that is great, but not for us. I've been so pleased with her school! Maggie also did 4 weeks of swim lessons. This was a parent/child class which she really needed. She has no fear of the water so it helped Ryan and I understand how to help her swim. She has her favorite things she likes to do. #1 is diving under water for toys. She learned this in the second week and didn't want to do anything else. I'm so glad we did it this summer, because I really think she might be a good swimmer. This fall/winter we will probably put her in one of the swim academies to keep her skills up and see if she could be on a swim team next summer.
Ryan came home and then on June 18th we bought a new house! We also sold our house in the same hour, crazy day! It is a wonderful place that had almost everything I wanted. We doubled our square footage but kept the nice backyard. (Not that we've been able to use it, it has been 95+ since we moved in) All the bedrooms are up stairs and we have a dining room and an office downstairs. Hopefully we will get things all done before Labor Day so I can take some pictures to post. We are so happy in our new home!
10 days after we moved in my parents came to help us get unpacked. They drove over from Florida after vacationing with the family. It was so nice to have them here. They got to see our new house, I have stuff actually hung on my walls ( which in all honesty would still be sitting on the floor after Christmas if it wasn't for them!), and Maggie got to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa. It makes me so happy to see them together!
July:
July brought us nothing but heat. Heat, school, work, and unpacking. The boxes don't bother me as long as the are an organized mess, so that is what we have. Two areas still have boxes, but I know what is in them, and I know what I need to get rid of them. I just need to go shopping without Mags. She doesn't enjoy the carts these days. She'd rather run off and make a mess of the store. The end of the month brought a new opportunity for Ryan. He is now working out of the Beaumont office Monday thru Thursday. (It is about 90 minutes away). Is still working on the Chile project, but is now taking over another job mid way through, and adding more skills to his work load. He is doing really well right now, and is in the position to have his bosses title (PCM- Project Controls Manager) in the next 2 years. Normally it takes 5 to 7 years to achieve this if you work hard. CBI really understands what Ryan is good at and they are giving him the opportunity to show it. While I don't like him working in Beaumont I know it is good for his career, job stability, and so it is really good for us. I still get to stay at home with Maggie while she is young and that is the best thing I could ask for.
One big thing that happened in July. GRANDPA IS CANCER FREE!!!!!! He had a PET scan done the middle of the month and all those sarcomas they saw in April are gone! He is going in for surgery to repair his vocal cords soon, and back to playing golf. This is the best news that could have happened for us! Thank you to everyone who sent good thoughts his way. He is a wonderful person and I'm so glad this dark cloud is away from him now.
August:
This month has been more adjustments. Ryan is gone all week, I'm babysitting at Jazzercise in the mornings for free classes, so every night he is gone is spent at Jazzercise working out. It makes for a weird schedule for Maggie which is why bedtime is not going so well. Every night is a huge battle and nobody wins. I'm not sure what to do. I guess I need to read some more books. Most of what I find online doesn't really apply to our situation. On the up side, Maggie is a total hoot now! She says some really funny things, but the best was yesterday. She was really stinky and refused to go to the bathroom. We were sitting together, and I told her "Maggie you're stinky". She said "I know. It's cuz I have poopy in my booty". I mean how much more blunt and plain can you get. She is always saying stuff like that. She is going to be the jokster in class. I just hope she can control it and use it appropriately. That's about it. I know it has been a long time since I posted. The only way to make me do it more is to harass me. So once a week send me an email telling me to update this thing. Hopefully I will have some more photos to add soon!
